Learning and Exploring

Today we had class at the Espace Mimont where we learned more about the Cannes Lions Festival and how it was to recognize those in advertising back in 1954. I learned that the first festival was held in Venice, Italy, where the lion of Piazza San Marco inspired the lion trophy which I found to be really interesting. Then we played a little game called Tic Tac Cannes that got all of us to roam around the room to talk with each other answering the questions on our sheets. We also had time to articulate our schedules to see what talks we wanted to go to as well as the award shows and jury sessions. After the class session I went to have lunch at the Bungalow Café with Hannah, Chase, Kyleigh and Abi to pass the time as I waited for the tour presented by Dr. NJ. I loved discovering all the new places and even seeing the Cannes sign by the clock tower. The view was so gorgeous I had to take a bunch of photos of the scenery. We had our welcome dinner at Le Marais and the food was delicious. I sat by different people from the previous night and it was nice to engage with people I didn't really have much time to get to know which was really nice. Gustavo and I had a nice conversation about the future and what we want to do once we're done with school. A little after Aude joined us at our table and we had lovely conversations, I even learned that there are 7 countries that border France, which was nice to know because I'm not very knowledgeable in geography. I still can't believe I'm in Cannes, it still feels like a dream that I'm not yet ready to wake up from, but hearing people speak in French around me as I'm walking along the road or entering the shops makes me more aware that I'm a tourist in another country compared to being the native in the United States. I honestly can't believe day two is over already. I feel like time is flying by way too quickly for my liking, but I'm having so much fun and cannot wait for the festival to start.
