Day 1 of Festival

Today was the official kick off to the Cannes Lions Festival, which was so exciting! I got a free candle from the Amazon Port's library, which was really cool to walk in there because I enjoy reading. I saw a series that I've read before like the Fourth Wing series by Rebecca Yarros and some that are on my long list of books I would like to read. I got a free candle inspired by the book Off Campus that is now made into a TV series, which I haven't read or watched yet but I've heard many good things so I'm excited to start that. After Amazon we met up with our tour guide around the Palais so we would know the locations of where some of the talks are going to be, which was very helpful. I spent most of my day at Sport Beach with Kyleigh and Braelyn and the lineup of speakers was really good. I listened to eight talks today from Sport Beach and then two from the Female Quotient. I would have to say out of all the sports talks I listened to today my favorite would have to be hearing from the panel with Bryson DeChambeau, who is a professional golfer and has nine PGA Tour wins. I enjoyed hearing how he brings in more traffic to golf through posting content on all his social media platforms because it's a niche sport and he said that people are starting to trust creators with partnerships. I enjoyed this talk the most because I have a background with golf. I've played for 5 years starting in eighth grade and all throughout high school, I even went to state in 2023 and I work at a golf course as a snack bar server. A fun fact that I learned today from another sports talk about women in sports roles like coaching is that girls the age of 13 drop out of sports because of coaching. The reasoning is because young girls are typically starting puberty and don't feel comfortable going to their male coaches regarding things such as period supplies, so it's helpful to have female coaches who understand what that experience is like. I thought that it was very interesting to know that girls drop out of sports at such a young age.
